In the Atelier, you’ll explore the craft of Lost Wax Casting and working with jeweler’s wax, learning at your own pace and level. Bring your own jewelry ideas to life, or simply begin creating and see where the material takes you. With personal guidance in a small group, you’ll have the space to experiment, discover and develop your work.

Where are you right now in your jewelry making journey?

There is no right place to start. It depends on what you already know, what you want to make, and how much time and guidance you need.

You’re curious about creating jewelry using wax and want to learn how to work with it. From exploring an idea or simply experimenting with your hands, to creating a form that can eventually be cast and finished to a beautiful shine in silver.

You already know parts of the process (creating with wax or casting or finishing your silver piece of jewelry) and want to figure out what you still need to learn to work independently with wax.

We’ll look at where you are, what you want to make, and where it makes sense for you to step in.

We decide together where you start.

You don’t automatically need a full introduction.

From any of these starting points, you can continue into the Atelier Sessions when you’re ready to keep developing your skills, ideas and way of working with wax.

ATELIER SESSIONS

You’ve learned the basics. You know how the process works.
Now it’s time to deepen your practice and discover your own way of making.

Every week, you are welcome to the Atelier in Amsterdam to work on your own projects, at your own pace, alongside a small group of other makers. Wax and tools are available, so you can simply arrive, settle in and start making.

You don’t need to arrive with a fully worked-out plan every time. Maybe there is an idea you have been wanting to try. Maybe you bring a sketch, something that inspired you, or a design you want to develop further. Maybe you have run into a technical problem and need to figure out how to move forward. Or maybe you have no plan at all and simply want to work with wax and see what happens.

You work on your work. I’m there to look with you and help when needed.

I can help you think through design decisions, look at technical possibilities and help you find a way forward when you get stuck. Sometimes a small suggestion is enough to get you going again. Sometimes it helps to step back together and look at your design from a different perspective, exploring what might be possible before you decide what to do next.

You also don’t have to finish something every week. There is room to try, start again, change your mind or simply test an idea to see where it takes you. The goal isn’t to leave every session with a finished piece, but to gradually become more confident in your own hands, your ideas and your way of making.

You make time to actually make. By coming to the Atelier regularly, making becomes something you return to rather than something you keep meaning to do. You create a rhythm in which your own work has space to grow.

Who are the Atelier Sessions for?

The weekly Atelier Sessions are for makers who can already work independently with wax and want to develop their own work further. You have been through the process from wax to silver at least once. You know how to make a piece in wax, prepare it for casting, have it cast, and finish the resulting silver piece yourself.

You can learn these fundamentals through the Wax to Shine course or the Atelier Intro Sessions. If you already have some of these skills, you don’t need to start from the beginning again. Just send me an email and we can look at what you already know, what you can already do and what you might still need before joining the sessions.
