With this Atelier Intro Sessions Gift Card, you give someone the opportunity to step into my Amsterdam atelier and discover the ancient craft of the Lost Wax Method, transforming an idea, through wax and silver, into a piece of jewelry made entirely by their own hands.

Over 4 morning or evening sessions, I will guide them through the complete process, from their first piece of wax to a finished silver ring they can actually wear.

No previous jewelry-making experience is needed. Just curiosity, a willingness to work with their hands, and perhaps an idea waiting to become something real.

What are you giving?

This gift card gives the recipient a place in one of my upcoming 4-part Atelier Intro Sessions in Amsterdam.

They can choose from the available start dates and discover the complete Lost Wax Method step by step.

During the four sessions, they will learn how to design and carve a ring in jewelry wax, prepare it for casting, understand how the casting process works, and finally finish, sand and polish their own piece in silver.

By the end, they won’t simply have made a ring.

They will understand the journey from idea → wax → casting → silver → finished jewelry, giving them the foundation to continue creating independently afterwards.

The four sessions

Session 1 — Entering the Atelier & making a start
We begin with wax. I introduce the different types of jewelry wax, tools and basic carving techniques before we start translating an idea into a first ring.

Session 2 — Shaping the design
We continue carving and refining the wax until the design is ready for casting. I explain how the casting process works, what it costs and where jewelry can be cast in the future. If preferred, I can arrange the casting for this piece.

Session 3 — Meeting the piece in silver
The wax has disappeared and the ring returns in silver. Now we begin the finishing process: removing the sprue, filing, sanding and refining the metal by hand.

Session 4 — Bringing it to life
In the final session, we polish and finish the ring until it is ready to wear. We also look beyond this first piece: how new designs can be developed and how the same process can be used to continue making jewelry or even begin creating a small collection.

And perhaps this is only the beginning...

The Atelier Intro Sessions are designed as a complete introduction to working with jewelry wax and the Lost Wax Method, but they are also the foundation for continuing in my Atelier.

After completing the course, the recipient can join the Monday Evening Weekly Atelier Sessions, where makers work more independently, explore new waxes and techniques, and slowly develop their own jewelry ideas.

Because something often happens once you begin working with wax.

One ring becomes another idea.
And another.
And suddenly, you are no longer only thinking about making jewelry.

You are making it.

Practical information

Location
The sessions take place in my Atelier at The Baggerbeest in Amsterdam.

Duration
4 sessions of approximately 2 hours each.

Choosing a date
The recipient can choose from the available Atelier Intro Session start dates after receiving the gift card.

Experience
No previous jewelry-making experience is required.

Included
All wax needed during the sessions, use of the Atelier tools and guidance throughout the complete process are included. The recipient will also receive information about where to buy jewelry wax and tools and where to have future pieces cast.

Not included
Silver and casting costs are not included, as these depend on the final weight of the piece created.
