Wax Classes
Wax Classes
Would you like to bring your own jewelry design ideas to life, but need a bit of guidance? Weekly studio classes are ideal for those with some experience in jewelry making using the lost wax technique. During this open studio class, all participants will work on their own ideas and projects and each will receive personal feedback and help to complete the projects.
Wax open studio Classes take place on Monday evenings from 19.00 - 21.00hr
During the open studio class, you may use the wax needed to create your design. All necessary tools will be provided and are available for you to use.
Tea, sweets and drinks with borrelnoten; this time in the studio should feel like a much deserved and enjoyable moment for you to create your jewels in the company of others. The group is small and there is plenty of room for guidance on your unique project. Perhaps you are making a ring which is shaped around colourful stones, or an organically carved pendant, or maybe a detailed and measured signet ring. Besides having professional guidance in each step of the process of your design, you will also learn from each other.
Once your project is complete, you have the option to convert your design into a wearable piece of jewelry made of recycled silver for an additional fee or you can have your project cast yourself and finish and polish your jewel at home. A simple but clear handout will be provided for the tools needed to complete your project once casted in silver. The casting + polishing fee is calculated at the end of the class, by weighing your wax model before it is cast and polished. You can either pay this directly in the studio, or by invoice. (€45 + € 2.5/gram cast silver. This is calculated according to the following ratio: 1g wax = 11g silver. The average cast silver ring weighs between 6 and 15 grams)
If you have no prior experience in working with wax or would like to get a deeper understanding of the technique and the casting process before you start the weekly classes, then I recommend starting with the Wax StarterClass to master the basics or the Wax MasterClass to have an in-depth introduction in all the different ways of working with Wax
